Andrew Chimboza (35) has pleaded guilty to stabbing to death Mbuyiselo Manona in Gugulethu in June last year. The State had previously said witnesses saw him eating pieces of the man's heart.

Today, the prosecution is expected to lead evidence about the nature of the attack when a forensic pathologist is called to testify in aggravation of sentence. A police officer who was at the crime scene is also likely to take the stand. The state says Chimboza stabbed his victim numerous times and removed his heart.

In his plea explanation, Chimboza says he killed Manona after the man attacked him in a jealous rage, accusing him of sleeping with his girlfriend.
