Let's all pray for President Mugabe says Prophet Walter Magaya

PROPHETIC Healing and Deliverance ministries leader Walter Magaya has said it is his duty to pray for President Robert Mugabe, adding that all Zimbabweans needed to do so as the ageing leader was there by "God's grace".

Magaya said this while preaching to thousands of women attending the ladies all night prayer at his church Friday.

He said Mugabe needed the prayers of Zimbabweans for wisdom to lead the country.

"Lets us pray for our leader; I am talking about my president. Yes let's pray for him; he needs our prayers for wisdom. Let me tell you one thing, leaders are made by God and we have to pray for them," he said to the applause of the congregants.

"I am serious let us pray for him (Mugabe) he needs our prayers as a nation. I know there are people here from various countries, pray for your presidents they are there because of God's grace," he told the gathering.

"Let's pray for our country, someone there pray for Zimbabwe Oh Lord bless Zimbabwe and its resources," he continued.

Asked by journalists later whether he was seeking political favour with the ruling party, Magaya said:

"It is my duty to pray for the president and our leaders in general. I am not seeking to align myself with any political party or person but just took advantage of the large congregation to pray for the president".

Unsatisfied with the answer, journalists questioned why he was always making political statements to which Magaya replied:

"If I don't support government what should I support?"

The all-night prayer which was aimed at praying for God's intervention in marriages and fight "anti-marital spirits" was graced by top female singers, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Amai Olivia Charamba.

The two singers did not disappoint as they put up polished acts, leaving the congregation asking for more.

Magaya said 80 percent of the marriages in the country were breaking down within six weeks due to spirits which he vowed to crush.

"Most marriages break-up within six weeks of existence. There is a strong spirit fighting marriages. This is the reason why we are holding this all night prayer," he said.
