Nyasha Mushekwi once spotted at Prophet Magaya church scores third goal.

WARRIORS striker Nyasha Mushekwi continues to make good progress on his return to competitive football after scoring his second goal in four matches for his new Swedish league club Djurgården in the 1-0 win over Archford Gutu’s Kalmar FF over the weekend.

The former Caps United striker was a second half substitute, introduced after 68 minutes and needed just 10 minutes to score the only goal of the match, poking home from close range.

It was his second goal of the season following his other strike which earned his team a point away to Häcken in his second appearance for the club.

The goals are a good return for the 27-year-old on-loan Mamelodi Sundowns striker who had appeared to give up on his career after sustaining a serious injury while on loan at Belgian side KV Oostende on February 15 last year.

He had not kicked a soccer ball since then as he struggled to recover from the injury and was once spotted at Walter Magaya’s Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries services in Harare as he sought for divine intervention for his woes.

In Belgium, Knowledge Musona played the entire match as his side KV Oostende beat Westerlo 2-0 in their third Uefa Europa league playoff match to keep their hopes of competing in Europe next season. Musona’s club is third on the four team log with three points and will need to win all their remaining matches to qualify.
Costa Nhamoinesu’s Sparta Praha was shocked 2-1 by relegated threatened Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic for their fourth defeat of the season as the second placed team lost further ground on log leaders Viktoria Plzeñ who are now five points clear with a game in hand.

After firing a brace last week, it was a barren weekend for Quincy Antipas but his side Hobro still won 1-0 away to his former club Brøndby in the Danish top flight league.

Still in the SuperLiga, Silas Songani’s SønderjyskE were held to a 0-0 draw at OB with the Warriors midfielder coming in as a second half substitute.

In South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cuthbert Malajila says he will fight to the end for the Premier Soccer League top scorer award.

The Warriors man has 10 League goals to his name, one behind the joint log ledears Moeketsi Sekola of Free State Stars and Lerato Lamola of Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Brazilians have five League games remaining and Malajila says that’s an opportunity to add more goals.

“I have to believe as a player and everyone at Sundowns want me to win the award. Everyone has been helping me and everyone wants me to do well. I still have a chance to score more goals in the few games that are coming and I have to keep believing. I’m gonna keep on fighting for the top scorer award until the last game,” he told a soccer magazine KickOff.

His coach Pitso Mosimane has him as a team player.

“The one thing you may not be aware of is that ‘Mala’ has (10) assists. It is easy to score 10 goals when you are waiting there and to be passed the ball to score. ‘Mala’ is not selfish and he could have scored some of the goals that he passed. He plays for the team.

“He also tracks back and defends. So he is not like other strikers who just wait there to be passed the ball and score,” Mosimane adds.

The outspoken coach is also quoted on the club’s official website as saying, “You don’t find strikers like ‘Mala’ anymore. His work rate is unbelievable because he doesn’t just wait for the ball in the box. I believe he can go all the way and win the Golden Boot this season. He was very close last season even though he missed a few matches through injury.”

The two men scooped the PSL Player and Coach of the Month awards for the month of February/March.
