Professor Is Being Investigated For Accidentally Emailing Her Students Porn

The Drexel University professor included a link in an email about writing briefs that she said students would find “interesting.”

Lisa McElroy, an associate professor at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Philadelphia’s Drexel University, seems to have had a little copy and paste mishap that has caused a splash on campus.
Last week McElroy, who teaches legal writing and pedagogy, emailed the students in her first-year Legal Methods writing class an article she said she thought would interest them, Above The Law first reported. But the link she included was that to an explicit video on PornHub.com.

The clip, which featured anal beads, has apparently led to the incident being called “Beadgate” by students.
Above The Law obtained a copy of the email, as well as a letter from Dean of Students Kevin Oates apologizing on McElroy’s behalf.

A spokesperson for Drexel told BuzzFeed News that McElroy, who has a doctorate from Harvard Law School, is now under investigation for the “inappropriate material” in her email.

Above The Law reported that a dean has taken over her classes.
Drexel has been made aware of an email that a professor sent to a class of law students and erroneously included a link to inappropriate material. According to federal law and the University’s policies and procedures, Drexel is required to initiate fact-finding for all reports of inappropriate behaviors of a sexual nature that may impact members of our community.

As part of these policies and procedures, an employee may be put on administrative leave — which is not punitive — during the investigation.

McElroy, who once competed on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, did not respond to a request for comment from BuzzFeed News.
