Wife backs Mmusi Maimane after sex claims

The front-runner to be the new leader of the DA, Mmusi Maimane, has found himself in the middle of a sex scandal.

Now his wife has come out swinging on social media, backing her husband and calling him “the real deal”, it was reported today.

The whole scandal started after an e-mail was sent by someone claiming to be one of several female DA employees used as “playthings” by the party’s men, ENCA reported.

“… I was brushed aside by a system that protects men that use their power to get away with the worst misogyny against women,” the e-mail reads.
It goes on to accuse several prominent DA MPs and officials of extra-marital affairs.

Parliamentary leader Maimane, James Wilmot and Athol Trollip have rejected the allegations “of a culture of crude sexual harassment within the party”, the ENCA report said.

Last week, Cape Town mayor and DA Western Cape leader Patricia De Lille endorsed Maimane’s candidacy for the party leadership.

“It is now our task to become a realistic and credible alternative to the governing party of the day – an alternative that is ready and able to provide leadership as a national government. South Africa is in crisis and in need of a different direction and it is our responsibility to provide it,” De Lille said.

Black Like Me founder Herman Mashaba has also publicly backed Maimane to lead the official opposition.
