Beiber breaks down at Christina Grimmie memorial

Justin Bieber is going through a lot of emotions these days. But over the last weekend, the pop star was totally overcome on stage over slain singer Christina Grimmie

The “Sorry” singer performed a touching tribute to honour the late “The Voice” who was fatally shot by a deranged fan on Friday — during his Saturday concert at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada. A witness at Christina’s final show recalls the tragic night.

During the performance of “Purpose”, Biebs collapsed to the floor of the stage as he belted out the lyrics while fighting back tears, singing:

“Grimmie, can you hear me?”

JB reportedly met Grimmie through Selena Gomez, whose stepfather was the late singer’s manager. Selly performed her own tribute to her close friend over the weekend, breaking down while performing “Nobody”.

Our hearts still ache over the tragic loss of this inspirational young woman, as she clearly touched the lives of many people.

The music community is remembering Christina Grimmie with moving on-stage tributes after The Voice singer’s death.

From personal friends like Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth to performers who’d only met her in passing, young stars continue to express their condolences to Grimmie’s family and fans after the 22-year-old was tragically shot late Friday.

Selena Gomez
Gomez has a personal connection to Grimmie and her story — Grimmie’s long time manager Brian Teefey is Gomez’ stepfather.

At her concert in Miami on Saturday, the night after Grimmie’s death, Gomez broke down in tears onstage remembering her friend.

“The one thing about Christina and her family, is that she holds her faith so closely to her,” she said, before dedicating her next song “Transfiguration” to Grimmie. “It’s not about her religion, and it’s not about good deeds. It’s just that she had faith. And I don’t really understand how this happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.”

Kesha
During her performance at a Pride celebration in Pittsburgh, Kesha honoured Grimmie and her loved ones.

“Send a little (love) to the family, friends and fans of Christina Grimmie,” she said as the crowd cheered.

The five women of Fifth Harmony remembered Grimmie during their performance at 106.1’s BLI’s Summer Jam in New York with a moment of silence.

“She was nothing but nice to us, so humble,” 5H’s Normani Kordei shared with the crowd. “We love you. We’re praying for your family and we know that you’re smiling down from above.”

Charlie Puth
Also performing at Summer Jam was Puth, who dedicated an acoustic rendition of his hit “See You Again” to Grimmie.

“I was reading the news last night and heard that my good friend Christina Grimmie was killed, and I want to dedicate this song to her tonight,” he said.

“I’ve been upset about this all day, mainly because I just never got to say what I wanted to say to her, and I feel like this song perfectly captures that.”

Rachel Platten
Platten toured with Grimmie earlier this year, and remembered the singer onstage in New York, before singing “Fight” song in her honour.

“I got to know her very well and we’re still in a lot of shock and it’s hard to make sense of these kinds of things,” she told fans. “She made this world a better place so I want to dedicate this to her tonight. Christina, I know that you’re listening and we love you.” — usatoday.com.
