Samuel Eto’o, Former FC Barcelona Striker, Being Arrested After Girlfriend’s Death Is Fake News

Samuel Eto’o, a former striker for FC Barcelona and Inter Milan, being arrested after his girlfriend fell to her death during sex with him on a balcony is fake news.

There is no truth to a report that the Cameroonian football player found himself arrested when his girlfriend died from a fall off a luxury hotel’s balcony in Nigeria while the two were making love in a dangerous location.

Where did this fake news originate? Global News published the fake news article reporting that Eto’o was arrested after his girlfriend plunged to her death during balcony sex. You can read it below.

Former Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o has been arrested on suspicion of ‘negligence causing others to die’ after a girlfriend fell over a balcony to her death in Lagos, Nigeria.

Samuel Eto’o, 37, was arrested at one of the state’s top luxury hotels, ‘The Wheatbaker Hotel’, along Lawrence Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos on Wednesday following the horrific death of Nneka Claudia, 26.

She fell to her death after the pair were said to be having ‘strange and extravagant sex’ on the balcony of a 5th floor of the hotel apartment. She suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures when she plunged naked to the floor below.

However, there is no truth to the above story. For one thing, there is no legitimate news coverage of such an arrest being made to Eto’o. Furthermore, the story comes from a glonews360.com, which has a history of publishing fake news articles that other sites have debunked. While The Wheatbaker Hotel does indeed exist, there has been no news coverage of a death occurring on its property recently.

Eto’o has recently threatened to sue Jeune Afrique Magazine for defamation after they published an article which claimed that Eto’o was planning to run in the 2018 Cameroon presidential election. The April Fool’s Prank consisted of a fake interview in which Eto’o lists his reasons for wanting to become the next president of Cameroon. The fake interview was then picked up by major news site France 24.

Here are some examples of people sharing the fake news on social media.

Eto’o plays as a striker for Turkish club Konyaspor. He is the most decorated African player of all time, having won the African Player of the Year award a record four times: in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2010. He was third in the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2005.
